Do melting Ice Caps cause flooding???

OK, back to my ANTI-"it's the end of the world" ranting.....

In his FICTIONAL documentary, Al Gore claims that if the polar Ice caps melt, costal areas will flood. Even a school child learns the basic science behind why this is NOT TRUE.

Take this Glass of Ice Water. Lets say the water is our oceans, and the ice is the polar ice caps and icebergs. Now, what happens to Water when it freezes? It Expands. If we let this glass sit here for several hours and all of the ice melts, will the glass OVERFLOW? No.

Simply because the Ice takes up more room in the glass than the water. As it melts back into a liquid, the amount of space it occupies shrinks.

Many counter this with the argument of glaciers and ice caps that are above sea level. However, realize that the BULK (about 75%) of all the polar ice caps and icebergs are BELOW the surface of the water. Meaning, if all of that ice below the surface melts, the water levels will go DOWN. And, that will make more room for the ice that is above the surface to melt into the oceans.

Thanks to obervations from NASA, and the dedicated Global Warming community, we can now prove that there is LIFE on Mars.

Simple, according to Al Gore and his buddies, the "Consensus" is that Global Warming can ONLY be Man Made. There is no possiblty that warmer tempratures now are a result of solar activity that comes and goes in cycles. So, if only the residents of a planet, and not the sun cause the planet to warm up and the ice caps to melt, then it must be all the SUV"s the Martians are driving around that is causing the SAME THING to happen on Mars....

Rosie and Gun Control Laws

Those of you that know me know that I don't care for the likes of Rosie O'Dumb@ss. But, what she said on "The View" yesterday just puts the icing on the cake. There were two STUPID comments by her and I would love for this to make the round of the internet and get in the hands of someone that will put it in her face so she can see just how STUPID what she said really is. Not that she will admit being wrong, or that she will change....

First, they were talking about the shooting at VT. They were critiquing the administration for not locking down the campus. Well, miss loud mouth chimes in that they should have just set off the fire alarms as a signal for everyone to stay in their rooms. HELLO!???!?? Use a FIRE ALARM to signal people to stay in their rooms??? How stupid is that? What are we taught from childhood to do when the fire alarms go off? To get OUT OF THE BUILDING!
Does she not realize that:
1) This would have exposed many more students into the open making them even easier targets for a gunman
2) This would have created a crowd of students flooding away from the buildings and provided a nice cover for the gunman to just slip into the crowd and slip away, unnoticed

Does this look like the face of someone that you would trust with your rights or safety?

On to her second stupid comment. She thinks that the problem is that the gun control laws are too relaxed and that the 2nd Amendment should be repealed. Don't you just love how Liberals hide behind Constitutional rights ONLY when it fits their purpose? But, they are not afraid to just come out and say that any Constitutional right they don't agree with should be yanked away?

Now, her point is tighter gun laws would have prevented this.... Perhaps she does not realize that Virginia has a law on the books making it illegal to posses a firearm on a college campus? Funny, that law didn't stop this madman from taking 2 guns onto the campus and killing 32 innocent people. Heres irony for you, one of the top officials at VT made a public statement just after this law was passed commenting on how it would better protect their students....) What Rosie does not realize is that gun control laws only hurt the people that respect the law. For people like this nut - the law means nothing. It didn't stop him from breaking the law and carrying the gun onto the campus and had it been illegal for him to buy a gun, it would not have stopped him from finding one on the black market. And, if he had run into a road block there, what's to have stopped him from raiding a chemistry lab and getting the material to make a bomb? Perhaps she should lobby to have any possible explosive chemicals removed from school chem labs? For that matter, why doesn't she lobby to outlaw the sale of Gasoline Gas cans (or ANY container that will hold liquid) and BIC lighters??? Because if someone is this disturbed and this hell bent on destruction and mass murder, they will find a means to carry it out.

Rusty Humphries the last couple of nights has made an even BETTER Counter Point. We should ENCOURAGE teachers and school faculty members to take gun safety courses and get their concealed carry permits and allow them (Only after they have been certified) to carry their guns with them, on their person right into the class room. I have a question for Rosie that she will NEVER give a strait answer to: "how many lives would have been SAVED if just ONE of those staff members had been carrying a concealed weapon and was able to defend themselves and their students as soon as this madman pulled his guns?" Not only that, but if it was only known that teachers were packing heat, but no one knew what teachers were armed, don't you think it MIGHT make a some of these guys think twice about walking in and opening fire? Ever wonder why these guys never walk into a police station and open fire? Why they don't walk into a Gun show and open fire? Because they want Lambs for their slaughter. Lambs don't fight back.

Now, Rosie says that the Constitution should be amended if our right to bear arms effects her right to live peacefully. Now, while I would love for everyone to live peacefully, I can't seem to find that in the Constitution anywhere. But, let me just take her point and put it back to her to see just how well she likes it...
-Does she agree then that the Constitution should be amended because the so called Constitutional right of a woman to get an abortion infringes on the rights of millions of unborn babies to live ANY kind of life, peaceful or not?

Excuse me while I go GAG on the thought that people with this kind of mindset are trying to take over this country!

For all of those that compare Bush and Conservatives to Hitler and Natzi's- you need to study your history Conservatives are not Natzi’s. Conservatives are for Free trade, individual rights with individual responsibilites.
LIBERALS are for a Nanny state where verything you do is for the greater good. Natzi’s were Socialists and that is exactly where Hillary and Obama and Dean, and Pelosi, and Ted Kennedy all want to take this country. They want to distroy the Individual in the name of the greater good. I’m just waiting for them to use the term “Motherland.”

Watch it, if they take the White House in 2008, you’ll see things like:
a) Taxing “My Space” pages and personal websites in the name of funding crack downs on catching internet child-preditors. After all, it’s for the greater good of all.

b) A Nanny State health care where you pay out of your pocket for EVERYONE’s health care, but you loose the right to choose your own doctor, or even your own health care options. A system where doctors and promoted because some Union said they eserve to be promoted, not based on their skills.

c) A excesive consumption tax for people that drink more then their allocated amount of alcohol.

Here’s the biggest thing that seperates Socialists (like the Natzi’s and Democrats) from True Conservatives. Conserviatives (Libertarians, Republicans…) believe that you are an INDIVIDUAL, not stuck in some group or social class. YOU have the same rights/responsiibilties/opportunities as anyone else with no need to “regulate” or “Redistribute” those rights in the name of “Equal Oportunity” laws.

Instead, Democrats, like the Natzi’s just want to lump you into social groups and redistribute the wealth from those that ahve EARNED it to those they feel deserve it.

Attitudes - They're not just Black & White

Too many times we hear that there are 2 points of view, Optimist or Pessimist. I tell you that is not the case. I am neither. For the most part, I am a REALIST. (See this post)

In fact, many people believe there are 7 attitudes and Optimist or Pessimist are none of them...
-Cynic: Cynics view the world in terms of what isn't, or of what won't work.
-Idealist: Idealists view the world in terms of how it could be changed for the better.
-Pragmatist: Pragmatists see the world in terms of what works best or most efficiently.
-Realist: Realists view the world in terms of what is; they focus on a situation's objective facts.
-Skeptic: Skeptics view the world with doubt.
-Spiritualist: Spiritualists view the world in terms of its possibilities.
-Stoic: Stoics view the world with serenity, feeling that outer events aren't of primary importance.

Now, are you limited to being only one of those? No. I believe we are all 7 of those attitudes and our choice depends on the situation. Now, we all have one or more of these we tend to use the most. Just as I'm typically a Realist. However, Realism and Pragmatism go hand in hand in many cases.

What I run into, and what sets me off is when people see my realistic view as being NEGATIVE or PESSIMISTIC. They think that, just because you don't see the glass as half full, you are a pessimist. I look at a half a glass of fluid and see just that, a half a glass of fluid. That's being a realist. I also tend to be a Pragmatist in that I see that the choice of glass was not the most efficiently, and a smaller glass would have been a better choice to hold that quantity of fluid. I see that the person dispensing the fluid picked a better choice of container, there would be no issue on half full or half empty.

When I take that attitude, I get feedback that I'm being negative about the situation. There is nothing NEGATIVE about stating FACTS. Reality is not always posistive, and neither are the facts. But, they are rarely always negative. I just wish more people would understand that before they label people as having only a positive or negative attitude.

Can I be a Cynic at times, I can be a Spiritualist at times. There is more to the world than just the Yen and the Yang, the black and the white.

Ok, that headline should catch your attention. I really hope it did, because it's true. There are people in this world that, while fighting to STRIP RIGHTS from unborn humans they are trying to GIVE those same rights to monkeys!!! Take 5 mins and read this article and tell me if it does not make you want to just want to SLING POO at these people!

John Edward's view: "A woman's decision about whether to become a parent is one of the most important life decisions that she can face."
My response- No pretty boy, the most important life decision a woman can make is to abstain from sex unless she is willing and ready to become a parent. Abortion IS NOT birth control, it's murder.

Tom Tancredo of Colorado was the only Republican candidate to reply to NARAL and he said it best... "I am a strong believer in the right to life for the unborn child,"

More Liberal Hypocracy

On the Fox News program "Your World" today, they had a guest that made a GREAT POINT.

The Liberals in Congress that have been pushing for Amnesty for illegal immigrants under the argument that it could take YEARS to properly secure our borders and fix immigration are the SAME Liberals that think it's taking to long to settle an insurgency in Iraq. Wait, are they saying that our borders are worse than Iraq? The next thing you know, they are going to be saying we need to pull out of Texas, Nevada & New Mexico (They won't dare give up California).

All I have to say is "Where's the Fence?" Congress passed a bill LAST YEAR to biuld a border fence - where is it???

I know you mean well....

Most of you know that I have been fighting depression for many years. It was made worse when we were run down in the CVS parking lot back in 2004. I know that my friends WANT to make me feel better, and some of you try really, really hard. I appreciate it, but while your intentions are good, unless you've been in this mindset, you can't grasp how many of your attempts are only compounding the problem. So, let me just give you some advice, because the odds are that I am not the only person you know dealing with this.

What NOT to do:

• Don't tell them to "Just cheer up" or "Just put it out of your mind" - if it was that simple, we would have. Most people with depression have an issue with OBSESSION, many are even cross diagnosed as having OCD. It's not a switch we can just flip off when someone tells us to cheer up. Trying to make it sound like a simple fix only frustrates us. It makes us feel that, if it's so simple then there must really be something wrong with us if we can't "Just get over it."
• Don't try to trivialize or "minimize" the problem(s) that are bringing the person down. While you may see it as a small issue, or no big deal (it it may, in reality be just a trivial issue), it's a BIG DEAL in the eyes of the person that is depressed. This only frustrates us, and makes the depression worse. It makes us feel like our problems are not important to the people that we think care about us, and if our problems are not important to you, then we are not important to you.
• Don't try to MAKE us feel better. I know, it's human instinct (Especially for us guys) to try to make things better, and to make our friends feel better. Trust me, it's not something YOU can fix. It's something in our mind and WE have to come to terms with it. Your attempts to help can lead to more,... anyone?? anyone?? FRUSTRATION (Are you seeing a pattern here??)
• Don't blame yourself! It's NOT YOU. It's nothing YOU have done. This is something that really frustrates us, and it compounds the problem by making US think we have done something else wrong.
• Don't claim you KNOW or that you UNDERSTAND. Unless you've been here, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!!

You can see, many of the things you would normally do to try to cheer up someone can make a person with depression feel worse.

What you CAN DO:

• Listen, let them know you care. It's OK to say you don't UNDERSTAND. That tells us you care, even though you don't grasp the problem. Just be a shoulder.
• Let them know that whatever it is that's bothering them IT IS important to you too. No matter how trivial their problem may be. Nothing makes us feel better than to know that what's bothering us IS IMPORTANT to someone else. There is another meaning to the old saying "Misery Loves Company." It's not that we want other people to be miserable. It's that we want to know we are NOT ALONE.
• Understand that they don't always want to be around GROUPS of other people. Do you know what it feels like to be in a room full of people, all having a good time, yet you feel ALL ALONE? Many people think the best thing to do for someone who's depressed is drag them out to a club, or a party. Let me tell you, even being in a room with people that you KNOW love you & care about you like your family, your friends or at church can cause anxiety even paranoia. The best thing you can do for them is just be with them. If they just want to be alone with you, then understand. Let them be the one that wants to be around other people, when THEY are ready. Not when YOU think it will make them feel better.
• The most important thing you can do is to NOT FORCE THEM. Instead of trying to MAKE them feel better, give them a reason to feel better.

I hope this helps you guys. Not just for my sake, but for the sake of ANYONE in your life that is fighting with depression. It is a fight, and only we can fight it. But, it's nice to know that there are people standing BESIDE US, ready to face the problem with us. No matter how trivial it it to you. Remember, it's all relative to your point of view. I won't go into Einstein's theory of relativity here, but think of it like this: "Sit with a beautiful girl for an eternity, and it can feel like a moment. Sit on a hot stove for a moment and it can feel like an eternity."

You Can't Expect To TALK To These People

Nancy "Do it for the children" Pelosi still thinks that we can "talk" to the terrorist.s That they can be reasoned with. Really? Perhaps she needs to read this news story to just just how EVIL these people can be...

Taliban set up six-year-old suicide bomber (a little hero!)

Can ANYONE think that the kind of people that would TRICK a 6 year old boy into blowing himself up to kill American Troops can reasoned with?

For those of you that want the Cliff Notes version of the story: in Afghanistan, members of the Taliban put an explosive vest on a 6 year old boy and told him to find a group of American Troops, make his way to the middle of the group and then pull a wire on the vest. This would cause FLOWERS to shoot out of the vest making the American's happy.

Well, the boy did not fall for it and went to authorities who removed the vest and disposed of it.

Here's what I've got to say to the 6 year old boy - if he EVER wants to come to the States to go to school, Patti and I will be GLAD to sponsor this little hero!

The Un-Fairness Doctrine

Well, I harp that Liberal Democrats only support free speech when you have something to say that they agree with. Well, they are now trying to PUSH their agenda on the public.

Let me ask you, do you think PRIVATE Industry had the right to run it’s business the way it want’s to, not how the government says it should? Do you understand how radio works when it comes to making money?

Radio makes its money from those annoying things called “Ads” you hear. Advertisers PAY to have their commercials heard. So, that means that they pay to have them played when they know people are listening. The more popular a program, the more valuable the advertising slots during that program. If a radio station want’s to make money, it has to run programming that is popular and that people will listen to so that advertisers will want to PAY for ad time during those programs.

Now, back to my rant about Liberal Democrats pushing their point of view… You see, about the only media that the Liberals do not RULE is talk radio. Conservatives rule there. (See my link to Rusty Humphries on the side) Why do Conservatives rule there? Because people WANT to listen, advertisers KNOW this and pay big money for radio stations to run their ads during Conservative talk programs. This does not happen with the Liberal radio shows. Just look at “Air America” – the so called network for Liberal talk radio. It went bankrupt. They could not pay the bills and bounced checks. WHY? No one was listening and advertisers knew it and no one wanted to pay for ad time.

Well, Liberal Democrats have a plan to FORCE privately run radio stations to air Liberal talk, regardless of what the LISTENERS want to hear. This plan says that, if they run an hour of a Conservative during prime time, they have to run an hour of a Liberal. They call it “The Fairness Doctrine.” This is just as bad as Liberals that say you should not keep score at a little league ball game because it’s not fair to have a winner or looser.

How about this crap? They “claim” that the Patriot Act has stomped all over freedom in the name of safety (it hasn’t). Yet they have NO PROBLEMS stripping OUR RIGHTS to push their agenda.

A LIBERAL guest on Fox News this morning asked a Conservative guest why he was afraid of “The Fairness Doctrine.” What I WISH the Conservative had said was “Why ar you afraid of letting the PEOPLE CHOOSE what THEY WANT to hear instead of thinking you have to FORCE your point of view on them.”

Now, some of you may be asking “What’s so wrong with giving equal air time?” Well, I’ll tell you. Radio stations that are FORCED to run an hour of Liberal talk for every hour of Conservative talk are going to get tired of loosing ad revenue during the Liberal hour. And let’s not forget that there are more than 2 political views. What about Libertarians and the Green party? Radio stations could be FORCED to go from 3 hours of PROFITABLE Conservative programming to just ONE hour of Conservative and 3 hours of alternate views (Liberal, Libertarian & Green Party). Three hours of programming they would not be able to GIVE AWAY ad time in. And, as long as they are FORCED to run it if they run Conservative, then they are going to DROP ALL OF IT. They’ll change up their programming, thus SILENCEING the Conservative voices. Liberals don’t care if their talk radio get’s cut as well, after all they have CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC and most of the major print media to spew their venom in. All that matters to them is SHUTTING UP the Conservative point of view.

“The Fairness Doctrine” would let them STRIP the Conservatives of their rights to FREE SPEECH on PUBLIC AIRWAVES!

I’ve ranted long enough, let me turn it over to someone else-> "The Un-Fairness Doctrine"

Just remember, Hillary says it's OK for the Government to take away things for the common good (BTW - that's called Communism....)

Liar, Liar!!

No, I'm not talking about one of my favorite Jim Carrey Movies. I'm talking about the cries from the Liberal left that BUSH LIED. Interesting, If Bush lied then Clinton (both of them) lied, John Kerry lied, Harry Reid lied, Most of the TOP Democrats calling for Bush's head LIED, that is, if Bush Lied. He didn't.

We know for a fact that Saddam DID, at some point, have WMD's - how do we know that? Well, as embarrassing as it is, the first fact is WE SOLD THEM TO HIM!! Back during the Reagan/Bush, Bush/Quail administrations. Second, he has used them on his own people. That's what Saddam was tried and hung for. For using WMD's to wipe out an entire village because a few there tried to kill him.

Also, don't forget, Bush went to CONGRESS for permission to go to Iraq and ENFORCE the standing Executive order issued by BILL CLINTON authorizing the use of force to remove Saddam from power. YES, Bill Clinton signed the executive order in the late 90's.

Obama’s apostles are hard to dismiss. Oprah simply calls him “The One,” because “we need politicians who know how to be the truth.” (Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth ...”) Oprah goes on to say Obama will help us “evolve to a higher plane,” which would put Obama in the role of our Intelligent Designer......
