Frustrated - at myself!

Ever do something that causes you more of a headache than it's worth? Well, you would think as a Network admin, I would be more "Careful" about testing software on my MAIN computer (that being my laptop that I LIVE off of). Well, stupid me, I was testing something and it corrupted the MBR on my hard drive. For those of you that are not techie, MBR is the Master Boot Record - it's what loads up to tell your computer to launch Windows. All my files were fine, I just could not get back into Windows to use the system.

I tried everything, from Windows booting into the Windows Xp recovery console to Linux live CD's with Hard Drive repair tools. After 5 hours last night, and another 2 hours this morning, I find a nice little, free tool online that fixed it in about 10 seconds. ARGGHHH!!!! And, what it did was something I should have known to try. It's amazing how, when we are faced with a problem, panic mode kicks in and we most often overlook the simple solution. I guess we think the problem is worse than it is, and that that means a more complex solution is required.

When fixing any problem in life, we should always remember the old saying K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, STUPID!). After all, it's much more fun to Rock and Roll all night as opposed to bing stuck in front of a malfunctioning PC, scratching your head and butt at the same time because your so frustrated you can't tell them apart! :-)
