New Site Design, New Function

Posted on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 3:56 PM by Robby Roberts

Well, I've been saying for the last year I was going to do it, and now I've gone and done it. I've rebuilt Rapid Fire Dreams into my own personal blog. I'm going to try to update it several times a week (My goal is daily, but we'll see...).

I've added an RSS Feed for those of you that have a RSS Feed Reader, you can use the link on the left to subscribe and get the updates.

I've still got to rebuild the other pages (Like the Image Gallery Page). But, now that I've got my CSS tweaked out, it's just a matter of doing it.

Still Tweaking

Posted on Monday, March 19, 2007 at 6:25 PM by Robby Roberts

As some of you may have noticed, I'm still tweaking the CSS layout a little. Adjusted spacing here, moved Links over to the Right side, .....

Its a work in progress. And when I get stuck, I just ask myself......

Do melting Ice Caps cause flooding???

Posted on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 10:13 AM by Robby Roberts

OK, back to my ANTI-"it's the end of the world" ranting.....

In his FICTIONAL documentary, Al Gore claims that if the polar Ice caps melt, costal areas will flood. Even a school child learns the basic science behind why this is NOT TRUE.

Take this Glass of Ice Water. Lets say the water is our oceans, and the ice is the polar ice caps and icebergs. Now, what happens to Water when it freezes? It Expands. If we let this glass sit here for several hours and all of the ice melts, will the glass OVERFLOW? No.

Simply because the Ice takes up more room in the glass than the water. As it melts back into a liquid, the amount of space it occupies shrinks.

Many counter this with the argument of glaciers and ice caps that are above sea level. However, realize that the BULK (about 75%) of all the polar ice caps and icebergs are BELOW the surface of the water. Meaning, if all of that ice below the surface melts, the water levels will go DOWN. And, that will make more room for the ice that is above the surface to melt into the oceans.

Proof of Life on MARS!!!

Posted on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 12:56 PM by Robby Roberts

Thanks to obervations from NASA, and the dedicated Global Warming community, we can now prove that there is LIFE on Mars.

Simple, according to Al Gore and his buddies, the "Consensus" is that Global Warming can ONLY be Man Made. There is no possiblty that warmer tempratures now are a result of solar activity that comes and goes in cycles. So, if only the residents of a planet, and not the sun cause the planet to warm up and the ice caps to melt, then it must be all the SUV"s the Martians are driving around that is causing the SAME THING to happen on Mars....

Mars is Melting - Nasa Report on the melting polar ice caps on Mars

I found the culprit.

It's MARVIN!! He can't seem to blow the Earth up, so he's heating it up to melt it and he's testing his plan on Mars!!

The right way to start a week off...

Posted on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at 2:21 PM by Robby Roberts

Well, I thought our week off was not going to be that great, after all, we overslept and missed church today. However, spending the day, Chillin on the couch with my buddy (Gator) has more than compensated!

A Lesson this country seems to have forgotten...

Posted on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 8:03 AM by Robby Roberts

"Statesmen my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand....The only foundation of a free Constitution, is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People, in a great Measure, than they have it now, They may change their Rulers, and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty."

-- John Adams, 2nd President of the United States of America (letter to Zabdiel Adams, 21 June 1776)

Hang up and Drive or Shop, or what ever else you are supposed to be doing!!!

Posted on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 11:13 PM by Robby Roberts

Ok, this is going to be a full blown rant. I hate Cell phones!
Now, I love the technology that lets us stay in touch. I love the features, like mobile text messaging, mobile email, surfing the web & so on. What I hate is people that LIVE on their cell phones. People that drive and talk, people that run over people in the isles of the grocery store because they can't control their buggy and talk. There is a time to put the phone down and a time to use it. People, you need to learn that there is a time to put the phone down and focus on the task at hand.

Take tonight, we were at the Kroger on Spout Springs Rd. I had a woman run into me 3 times with her buggy because she had her cell phone to her ear. Not just for a quick call but she was on the phone from the second isle of the store (Where she first hit me) all the way through the check out line and while she was loading her car. COME ON PEOPLE!

I'm going to pick on my sister here, but what are little brothers for anyway. But, last year on Mother's Day, she came to church with Patti and I (And the rest of the family). The ENTIRE SERVICE she kept fidgeting with her cell phone. I know it annoyed and distracted Patti, Both of my Parents and myself and no telling who else around us in the service. People that were there for a purpose.

And for those family members, friends and coworkers of ours that fuss they can never reach Patti or I. When we get home, we don't use our cell phones. Patti's in her purse, out by the front door where we may or may not hear it. Mine is turned off, and put with my car keys, not to be touched until I get ready to leave the house again. Why? Because we have a HOME PHONE. A phone line that does NOT drop the calls, does not bill by the minute, is much clearer to talk on and the phone itself is much easier to hold on to. If you've only called our cell phone numbers and have NOT even tried our home phone number, DO NOT fuss about not being able to get in touch with us.

And, if you are driving your car, or shopping, or sitting in church - PUT THE PHONE DOWN AND CONCENTRATE ON THE TASK AT HAND!!!!!!

Depression Hurts

Posted on Friday, March 30, 2007 at 9:15 PM by Robby Roberts

Some of you that know me know that I've had a long hard fight with depression the last few years. I thought I had it under control, but earlier this week an event caused me to have to "Rehash" past events - events I have tried so hard to keep out of my mind.

The last few days, I've tried and tried to clear my mind. Any of you that have ever tried to "NOT" think about something know that what you are trying to "NOT" think about is what you wind up thinking about.

It makes you feel so alone, even when surrounded by friends and family. And, there is nothing that anyone can say or do to cheer you up - and many times, though they mean well, their efforts to make you feel better wind up making matters worse.

It's something you can't understand until you've walked that path yourself.
