One Nation Under GOD!
Posted on Friday, January 02, 2009 at 2:29 PM by Robby Roberts
I got this in an email from a friend today...
'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'
I was prompted to reply with this...
The problem is not having God in the pledge… the problem is God is not where your hand goes when you say the pledge – the Heart.
This country has not been ONE Nation UNDER God in many, many years. We are a nation divided in trying to be politically correct, in trying to appease those that do not believe in God, or worse, those that believe in a God that would have them commit mass murder in their names.
I’ll defer to our founding fathers…..
Thomas Jefferson
1781 - Notes on the State of
Virginia, Query 18
And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have
removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people
that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be
violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I
reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever.

It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of
Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and
humbly to implore his protection and favors.

James Madison 1825 - letter to Frederick Beasley
The belief in a God All Powerful wise and good, is so essential to
the moral order of the world and to the happiness of man, that arguments
which enforce it cannot be drawn from too many sources nor adapted with
too much solicitude to the different characters and capacities impressed
with it.

1776 - Thoughts on Government
It is the duty of all men in society, publicly, and at stated
seasons, to worship the SUPREME BEING, the great Creator and Preserver
of the universe. And no subject shall be hurt, molested, or restrained,
in his person, liberty, or estate, for worshipping GOD in the manner
most agreeable to the dictates of his own conscience; or for his
religious profession or sentiments; provided he doth not disturb the
public peace, or obstruct others in their religious worship.

1787 - Motion for Prayers in
the Constitutional Convention
And have we now forgotten that powerful Friend? or do we imagine we
no longer need its assistance? I have lived, Sir, a long time; and the
longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this Truth, that God
governs in the Affairs of Men. And if a Sparrow cannot fall to the
Ground without his Notice, is it probable that an Empire can rise
without his Aid?

Maybe it's mid life crisis, maybe it's because I've always dreamed of flying like Superman, or "The Rocketeer," but this is calling my name.... How much are wing suits?????
